About Izabelle: Izabelle is 15months old. She was born on december 3rd 2006 with a very rare brain condition called Septo Optic Dysplaisa effecting 15 in 51 million babies. This causes mulitipule problems for her, including pituitary deficiencies, hormone deficiencies, low muscle tone, seizures, and blindess. Izabelle also has Diabetes Insipidus (which is completey different to the normal Diabetes), Hypothyroidism, Adrenal Insufficiency, Growth Hormone Deficiency (this affects bone density, fat storage, cholesterol storage, mental health etc) Izabelle has spent a lot of her life in hospital, She has to have medicine everyday for the rest of life, if she gets sick and can not have her medicine she could die, soon she will also need an injection everyday so that her bones can develop properley and she can grow. Izabelle is a very happy little girl and it would mean the world to her and her parents if she could have the chance to see all the beatuifull things the world has to offer, and could also be able to live a better life! Stem Cell treatment is not avalible in her current country the UK, so she would need to travel to China for the treatment to be carried out.
Information about Izabelles medical condition: Septo-optic dysplasia (SOD) is a rare disorder characterized by abnormal development of the optic disk, pituitary deficiencies, and often agenesis (absence) of the septum pellucidum (the part of the brain that separates the anterior horns or the lateral ventricles of the brain). Symptoms may include blindness in one or both eyes, pupil dilation in response to light, nystagmus (a rapid, involuntary to-and-fro movement of the eyes), inward and outward deviation of the eyes, hypotonia (low muscle tone), and hormonal problems. Seizures may also occur. In a few cases, jaundice (prolonged yellow skin discoloration) may occur at birth. Intellectual problems vary in severity among individuals. While some children with SOD have normal intelligence, others have learning disabilities and mental retardation. Most, however, are developmentally delayed due to vision impairment or neurological problems.
A note from her parents: This little girl is our life, even with all her many medical problems that she has and the challenges she face's each day she is always happy and has a big smile on her face. we are hoping to raise enough money for Izabelle to have Stem cell treatment to give her a chance to see the world around her and let her live a better life when she's older. This treatment is very expensive and without your help we cant help her.
